Connecticut
easy 7 to rake up 71 for the week. all time high by 1 mile. nice run and helped my mom run on the no trespassing zone. felt pretty decent. drills and 8 x barefoot stride afterward. good week of training in terms of mileage and feel for the volume. not really that happy at where i am at in terms of speed or fitness level but hopefully with some tempo runs i'll get fit relatively quickly. hope to sustain this mileage until school starts. ok bye.

Roxbury
Now Playing: boats and waves
6.7 mile "race" at roxbury again. 2 miles before and 2.3 after to round out 11 for the day. really wanted to do a tempo run today but the new course we ran on was way too hilly to get anything productive done. i was cruising the first two miles at a little over 6:30 pace talking to this ex-football player and then the hill came and we both got smacked around. it was over a mile of grueling uphill but it took a little more out of him than me. i put about 200 meters on him during that time but he closed the gap a little bit but i silenced the child (aka older than i am) with a hard last mile for 3rd overall. rediculously bush league. i def am depressed again that i have no under-distance speed and def can't run a decent 5k right now. tempo runs are a must for next week. for now, i'm chilling at the beach.

PM party at the rock
was going to go a little longer but was really feeling crappy even at the pedestrian pace i started at and went short. ended up going 8 and felt ok by the end but the pace felt really slow. i did a barefoot calibration mile on the track and i guessed it would be over 7 but it was 6:45 which made the run much better because i def felt like i was walking. did some good uphill strides afterwards in the rain.

AM swim
really good swim today. i dummied my mile pr by 2 mins, 30:46, and it wasn't a very hard effort. i wasn't sure if i swam 33(there and back) or 34 laps but i gave myself the un-benefit of the doubt and did the extra one just in case to validate my pr. either way it was a sweet swim. i wore my swim cap and fancy new speedo and was like an aerodynamic torepdo of sweetness. i was pretty relaxed the whole time and my flip turns were really clicking by the end.

PM party at the rock
Mood:
smelly
Now Playing: the song stuck in my head- the weight by the band
really great run at the rock. surprised that i felt this good after the crappiness of this morning. alas, i did 8.5 miles to tally up 14 for the day. my form and stride were really clicking too which pumped me up, plus i really rolled up the big hill at the end. did some good drills afterward. chaching! that's the sound of me being happy.

AM run from home
warmed up from home to school about 2 miles. did some glorified strides in the form of 6x200. tetered around 30 seconds finishing in 28. felt much worse than i did last week doing these but it could have been because of the humidity and i was doing them by myself. good to get the legs moving again to recruit some fast twitch fibers lost to the miles i've been doing. easy warm down back home for 5.5 miles total.

party at the rock
not really that sore from lifting this morning but was still really dead at the start of the run. really eased into it but got into a pretty good groove towards the end and was feeling pretty money. finished on the big hill up from the river and was feeling good. 7 miles. drills afterward.

party at the rock
long run of 14 miles. started out easy for the super ultimate summit run at the lowest pt at the rock and climbed for 25 minutes straight. tough but very satisfying. ended up feeling really good and ran at a solid clip the whole time. finished up with a few laps on the track. last mile in 5:40. great day. 5 uphill strides in the parking lot afterwards. i'm the money man.

Candlewood Mtn Rd
7 miles. One of my best runs in CT. felt pretty good and was frolicking at a nice clip and hammered the terrible mountain in the beginning. i was thinking up good defenses to arguments the whole time and i now am more prepared to argue and run fast. i think my fitness is starting to come around. 60 miles in 6 runs. much better week than expected. goals for next week: 70 miles 7 runs. more lifting and swimming again with an easy tempo run.

Roxbury
6.4 mile "race" but talleyed up 10 for the day. 53 so far in 5 days. going for 60 in 6 days this week. so andrew and i took it pretty easy today at roxbury and were running doggystyle with pretty even/average splits the whole time. in the beginning some real psycho lady tried drafting off of us so andrew and i threw in a little surge to drop her. she yelled out, "i'll get you you fucking boys! i know you'll fade!" quite atypical for the pretty easy going roxbury regulars. we just laughed and beat her by about 10 minutes. she was grunting and doing weird snorting noises while finishing. good day on the whole and think the confidence is on the rise. get at me.

AM run at New Milford HS
warmup, 6x200, warmdown. 4 miles. really didn't know what to expect going into this quasi workout/glorified strides. andrew and i surprised ourselves a little and found out we haven't lost all that much speed. started out at 30 and hit most at 28. felt pretty good aside from my usual wheezing from my cold.

Mood:
chillin'
Now Playing: random guitar by andrew
pulled a pretty big sandbagger move and took yesterday off because i was feeling super crappy. probably a good move in retrospect. felt really strong today. 10 miles on river road with andrew at a really good pace. good for the ego. easy strides.

Lake Waramug
Mood:
hug me
pretty terrible long run at lake waramug. 14 miles of tedious heavy-legged running. longest run of the year so far. was a pretty mentally exhausting run and i think i psyched myself out for it because loops around the lake are like 7.5 miles long and i had to do almost two of them. ran by myself most of it because andrew kept dropping off. felt dehydrated and annoyed as usual. jumped in the lake and lay there like a retarded fat blob.

ct- canterbury
Mood:
suave
Now Playing: out on my porch - andrew levy
started the run at the canterbury track (i just made a really lame joke but deleted it). went down and partied on the new MILFord 8 mile course for a few miles and felt crappy with cramps and such, probs pms related, rocked back up canterbury hill(mountain) in 7:26 and was feeling pretty decent and rolled barefoot on the track for 3 more miles in cruise control. 9 on the day. strides afterward and blew several snot rockets prompting my parents to attempt to disown me.

New Milford 8 miler
was pretty nervous for this because of my terrible showing last weekend and my bad week of training. andrew forced me to wear my racing flats because he was wearing his cubatos automatically escalating the pressure. 11 miles on the day. start of the race was pretty conservative, 6:02, 6:20, 6:16 (pretty hilly mile, don't know why i went faster), 6:11, 6:18, 6:12, 7:05 (probably the hardest hill mile of all time), 5:22 (downhill but really dogged it, 4:52 is pr). So 49:49 for the whole race, ran 49:37 last year but definately started cruising after the 3rd mile and let people pass me on the downhills. dogged the last mile so i guess i could have taken down last year's time but i would have liked to dummy my old time. 25th overall. just looking at the splits you probably wont realize that this is the hilliest course ever; I just am a hill machine and a metronome. Peacetron my nay nays.

Nantucket
wow. recovery day, 6 miles and definately needed. legs felt really stale but aerobically felt ok. really depressed at this terrible week of running and how i will fare at the 8 miler. as i say and andrew adamantly refutes, bad days tell more than good days. strides after. p.s- this is what the alphabet would look like if q and r didn't exist p.p.s- i just copied that line from mitch hedberg and used the same entry twice. it still applies.
